This leadership role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of advanced products, tools, and processes. The position requires close collaboration with customers and internal departments to ensure projects are completed on time, meet design requirements, and comply with industry standards like IATF 16949 and ISO 14001. You will be responsible for managing technical aspects of plant operations, resolving issues, ensuring safety and compliance, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product & Process Development: Utilize cutting-edge methods to design and implement products, tools, and processes that meet industry standards.
- Project Oversight: Manage and follow up on projects to ensure timely completion and adherence to design intent.
- Customer Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison with customers, ensuring their requirements are met through effective communication and project delivery.
- Issue Resolution: Identify, address, and resolve technical issues promptly, ensuring they are followed up and closed.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all designs incorporate necessary safety features and comply with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Interdepartmental Support: Collaborate with other departments to provide the technical support needed for smooth plant operations, including work instructions, setup sheets, and equipment.
- Intellectual Property: Oversee the protection of intellectual property throughout the development process.
- Documentation & Timelines: Prepare and maintain project timelines, keeping management informed of progress and addressing any potential issues.
- Workplace Safety: Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment by adhering to the principles of 5S (Simplify, Separate, Sanitize, Standardize, Support).
- Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in the automotive industry, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards, along with practical experience using engineering software relevant to automotive functions.
- Communication: Fluent in English (both written and verbal) with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Judgment: Skilled in evaluating manufacturing processes, scheduling priorities, ensuring compliance with company policies, and determining the compatibility of new products with existing operations.
- Accountability: Responsible for managing the departmental budget, ensuring compliance with federal and state legislation, and meeting project timelines.
- Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with employees, management, suppliers, and customers to drive successful project outcomes.
Education:
- Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent; OR a College Diploma/University Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant certifications (e.g., Tool & Die Maker) and 10 years of industry experience.
