UF Health Shands Rehab Services is dedicated to providing excellent patient care to individuals throughout north central Florida. Through comprehensive rehabilitation programs, we hope to create a safe and comfortable environment that empowers individuals to manage their care independently, return to a functional lifestyle and improve their quality of life. We are dedicated to treating our patients with compassion, creativity, respect and confidentiality. Our rehab centers accomplish this with close working relationships between our referring physicians, therapists, support staff, University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions and the University of Florida Athletics Program. Our therapists provide rehabilitation services and education to patients. We offer continuing education, journal clubs, staff mentoring and the ability to be involved with student clinical education and our UF Health accredited residency programs in Sports and Orthopedics.
UF Health Rehab Center OSMI (Sports and Orthopaedics) provides physical, massage and aquatic therapy services. Our staff are specialty-trained in sports injuries, concussions, running medicine, and pain science as well as total joint, post-surgical and the general orthopedic population. We work closely with the physicians in the UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute and the UF Health Comprehensive Spine Center to serve the rehab needs of Gainesville and the surrounding communities. We are the rehab provider for the University Athletic Association and are an accredited sport residency site through the American Physical Therapy Association. Our therapists collaborate in research with these physicians and the University Athletic Association and are published in areas of ACL, baseball/overhead athletes, movement analysis, concussion, patient expectations/outcomes, psychosocial factors for positive outcomes and running medicine.
