Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Superintendent to oversee and manage large-scale commercial construction projects with a value of $50 million or more. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading complex commercial projects from the ground up, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery while managing on-site activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership and Oversight:
- Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities for large-scale commercial projects valued at $50 million or more.
- Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and site staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
- Oversee site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment coordination, and workforce management.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and manage construction teams, including assistant superintendents, foremen, and site staff.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
- Provide clear direction and communicate project expectations to all team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities to enhance team growth.
- Quality Control:
- Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
- Review and approve work performed by subcontractors and site staff, ensuring it meets project specifications and standards.
- Identify and promptly address any quality issues or deficiencies.
- Safety Management:
- Enforce all safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and training sessions for site staff and subcontractors.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents or accidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and address any concerns or changes in scope.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure alignment with project goals, schedules, and client expectations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspection records.
- Report project status, issues, and progress to the project management team and senior management.
- Assist in the preparation of project closeout documents and punch lists.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making:
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, particularly those specific to large-scale commercial projects.
- Make informed decisions to resolve conflicts and overcome challenges, ensuring successful project delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a superintendent, with at least 4 years managing large-scale commercial projects over $50 million.
- Extensive knowledge of construction processes, methods, and best practices for commercial projects.
- Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, quality control standards, and project management best practices.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
