As a Mapping & Localization Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and deployment of our mapping and localization system for autonomous vehicles. Collaborating with a dynamic team, you will enhance M&L functionality, prototype, test, and evaluate various localization algorithms, and contribute to the establishment of robust software engineering practices.
The position is in London, UK with a hybrid working mode.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy mapping and localization systems for autonomous vehicles.
- Collaborate with the autonomous mobility team to understand system requirements and enhance M&L functionality.
- Prototype, test, and evaluate different localization algorithms, establishing a benchmarking toolchain for localization accuracy.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in autonomous driving, mapping, and localization algorithms.
- Establish and promote good software engineering practices to produce high-quality, reconfigurable, and maintainable software.
- Proactively address impediments, proposing solutions while considering cost-benefit ratios to meet team and delivery commitments.
Profile:
- MSc/PhD in STEM subject with a focus on software engineering.
- Significant experience in developing localization systems for autonomous vehicles, including LIDAR and camera-based techniques.
- Proficiency in SLAM and sensor fusion algorithms.
- Solid software development skills in Python & C++.
- Comfortable with Linux and Git.
- Familiarity with Docker, AWS, ROS2.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Passionate about solving challenging technical problems through strategic and innovative approaches.
