Your role at Clorox:
The Strategic Cleaning Innovation R&D team is seeking a consumer-obsessed packaging developer to join our agile group of scientists. We are looking for someone with innovation packaging experience to research, develop and recommend differentiated, novel package solutions for current and new product formulas. You will be part of a high performing team, driving packaging technical development, which will range from the creation of new and innovative products for discovery programs to developing new/improved products through the commercialization process for key growth platforms. In this role, you will bring new ideas and innovation to our products and packaging, delivering against the identified Strategic Platforms and leveraging the Scaled Agile model. We are looking for packaging experience at the Sci. 2 level with room to grow to join our dedicated group to advance our purpose-driven brand.
In this role, you will:
- Provide a technical Packaging voice for new platforms to Clorox – identify, champion and adapt new technologies, tools and processes. Be a key contributor at bringing both divergent and convergent thinking to the product design process.
- Create a sustainable competitive advantage for Clorox through having an external lens, prioritizing robust knowledge management, and elevating internal technical/testing capabilities.
- Independently drive packaging-focused projects, partnering with subject matter experts, cross-functional partners and project managers, while contributing to other projects with an enterprise perspective and technical thought leadership.
- Design and execute technical testing to converge on and validate package design and performance, including developing new test methods with support when necessary
- Use established Clorox processes to deliver projects and identifies potential improvements, championing technical rigor, creating consumer and customer facing specifications and processing standards.
- Partner with key cross-functional team members, including Product, Process, Marketing, and Sales
- Bring a passion to dive into, learn, and share Packaging Modeling and Simulation tools to enable best in class packaging design.
- Work through manufacturing partners to understand local supply limitations and recommend improvements while maintaining consumer experience.
What we look for:
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging or Materials Science or equivalent number of years of relevant industry experience
- 2-5 years of experience leading the execution of new packaging solutions to market, including development from idea to launch on at least several projects
- Demonstrated project planning skills
- Be able to exhibit strong leadership, critical thinking, technical, communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and implement multiple projects in a timely manner
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment, both internal and external to Clorox
Workplace type:
This position will be located in our Pleasanton, CA office, and the individual will be expected to be in the office 3 days a week. (Relocation assistance is available.)

Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
Salary range: $86,600 - $161,900
