Southland Consulting Engineers is seeking a motivated mid-level Water Resources Engineer to work in our Dallas-based office.
Assignments may include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain impact studies, stormwater and water resources design, stormwater and watershed management planning studies, surface water resource and allocation studies, water resource systems modeling and yield analysis; dam break studies, flood risk assessment and emergency action plans, water quality analysis, erosion and sediment studies and other aspects of comprehensive water resources planning and design.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in water planning, design, H&H modeling, and master planning
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Environmental Engineering, or the appropriate combination of work/education experience
- Strong knowledge and experience with the preparation and review of Engineering Plans to ensure that all aspects of project implementation are clearly conveyed
- GIS, HEC-RAS 2D and HEC-HMS applications experience
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the US
Responsibilities:
- Assignments may include: hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain impact studies, stormwater and water resources design, stormwater and watershed management planning studies, surface water resource and allocation studies, water resource systems modeling and yield analysis; dam break studies, flood risk assessment and emergency action plans, water quality analysis, erosion and sediment studies and other aspects of comprehensive water resources planning and design
- Water Resources evaluation and planning efforts such as Watershed Improvement Plans, Watershed Management Plans Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, surface water resource and allocation studies, water resource systems modeling and yield analysis, and preliminary and detailed design work
- Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (1-D and 2-D) in support of projects listed above in addition to floodplain impact studies (No-Rise, CLOMR, LOMR, etc.), design of hydraulic structures, design of stormwater BMPs and green infrastructure, stormwater conveyance, stormwater improvements, etc.
- Manage project budgets, schedule, assigned staff, and QA/QC
- Perform theoretical investigations and apply complex technical concepts for certain planning studies; this may require travel to client sites
- Promote the application of technologies (GIS/Civ3D, Automation etc.), and research new and emerging ones to bring efficiency and clarity to assignments
- Perform engineering computations related to site hydrology and hydraulics, earthwork, stormwater BMPs, and natural structural components
- Prepare design engineering plans and specifications for approval by municipalities and regulatory agencies
