Tax Manager
Employment Type: Contract to Hire
Location: Dallas, Texas
Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote. Initial training will be fully onsite, 5 days a week.
Position Details:
This position is a replacement for the previous Tax Director, with the role now being at the manager level. The selected candidate will have one direct report, a Tax Analyst. The company is open to considering a very senior-level Tax Analyst ready to transition into a managerial role.
Position Summary:
The Tax Manager will be responsible for developing operational and financial procedures within the department, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, managing accounting and reporting for taxes, and conducting tax research. This role involves working closely with both external and internal auditors during the annual audit processes. Additionally, the Tax Manager will develop tax planning strategies in collaboration with external tax advisors.
Responsibilities:
- Tax Returns Preparation: Coordinate with Deloitte for Federal & State Income Tax Returns, including quarterly and annual provisions.
- Tax Payments: Manage Federal, State, and local estimated tax payments with Deloitte.
- Local Tax Filings: Prepare approximately 40 local tax filings.
- Sales & Use Tax Management: Oversee the preparation of sales & use, property, and other tax filings.
- Regulatory Compliance: Evaluate the impact of statutory and regulatory changes on the company’s tax position.
- Tax Examinations: Manage all Federal, State, and local tax examinations.
- Technology and Automation: Collaborate with outside vendors and internal departments on tax technology development and implementation.
- Legislative Monitoring: Stay current with legislative changes in state sales tax laws that may impact the company.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Certification: CPA is preferred.
- Experience: 5-7 years of relevant tax experience. Experience with a Big 4 firm or corporate tax department of a multi-state company is required.
- Skills: Strong management skills with experience, proficiency in tax preparation software (preferably Corptax), Microsoft suite, and ERP applications.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex tax concepts clearly.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent changes in requirements.
