Job Summary
My client is seeking a Traffic/Transportation Practice Leader to join its collaborative multidisciplinary Texas team. This individual will play a key leadership role in expanding the Traffic/Transportation Practice in Texas, focusing on serving private sector developers, corporations, public entities, and institutional clients in their real estate development projects. In this position, you will leverage the national Traffic/Transportation leadership team and an established practice, combined with a rapidly growing multidisciplinary Texas team, to drive growth in the Texas Traffic/Transportation group.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the firm’s Traffic/Transportation and Texas leadership to develop and implement growth plans.
- Lead staffing and hiring initiatives in Texas, ensuring effective organizational strategies.
- Identify and pursue new clients, develop additional work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings with clients.
- Provide oversight and management of junior staff on specific project assignments, coaching and motivating the Traffic/Transportation team.
- Lead Traffic/Transportation efforts on various projects, including preparing Traffic Impact Analyses and managing DOT driveway permitting.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks within specified budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Prepare progress reports, draft change orders, and assist in payment collections.
- Coordinate with staff to assess project feasibility based on preliminary data analysis; prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, and designs as needed.
- Organize, write, and edit draft proposals, reports, and other documents effectively.
- Interface professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, and project personnel across various disciplines.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's degree in Traffic/Transportation is a plus.
- Professional Engineering license.
- 12+ years of experience in Traffic Engineering/Transportation Planning, including traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrants, parking studies, driveway design, and traffic signal design.
- Familiarity with state permitting and DOT guidelines for traffic impact analysis and highway design.
- Effective public speaking skills; public testimony experience is desirable.
- Strong project management abilities, including managing multiple clients and projects and developing project budgets.
- Knowledge of Synchro, ITE Trip Generation, and HCM.
- Familiarity with Vissim, AutoCAD, and MicroStation is a plus.
- Ability to coach and assist in managing staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits, along with a valid driver’s license in good standing. Ability to travel occasionally and participate in fieldwork.
