Job Summary:
The Data Center Managing Engineer will oversee and manage the daily operations of a data center, ensuring the efficient and secure operation of all data center equipment. This role involves collaborating with government stakeholders to define processes, ensure compliance, track resource usage, and manage equipment installation and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, including experience with server technologies, SAN or network storage, and maintaining data center security protocols.
This position supports a long-term federal project and requires onsite presence at the Intelligence Community Center in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities:
Process & Standards Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and enforce processes that govern data center activities.
Compliance Monitoring: Track and ensure compliance with established data center protocols.
Resource Tracking: Monitor and report data center resource consumption (power, cooling, and rack space).
Access & Logistics: Coordinate access and logistic support for data center operations.
Maintenance & Installation: Manage installation and maintenance of data center equipment, including racking and stacking servers.
Incident Response: Provide 24/7 support for emergency incidents affecting mission-critical services.
Documentation: Maintain and update data center documentation, including technical manuals and maintenance records.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Oversee and engage with vendors supporting data center operations.
Root Cause Analysis: Assist in identifying and resolving operational issues impacting enterprise services.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
Active TS-SCI-CIP clearance.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Expertise in managing data center operations within a Windows environment.
Experience with SAN or network storage setup and administration.
Proficient in managing hardware configuration baselines.
Familiarity with data center strategy, planning, and roadmap maintenance.
Experience with data center consolidation and transitioning to cloud environments.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts and solutions.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage high-pressure situations in mission-critical environments.
