GIS Analyst
The GIS Analyst will primarily be responsible for utilizing conventional GIS data collectors and GPS equipment to gather data.
This position will also assist in maintaining GIS databases, which involve collecting, compiling, and analyzing geographic data, preparing various types of maps and/or graphics, providing GIS support to departments and other customers, and performing other related duties as assigned.
- Perform data collection, cartography, and other technical functions following guidance for the collection and submission of GIS data.
- Visit outdoor assets, geolocate, take photos, and perform other data collection duties.
- Focus on general data integrity and GIS maintenance work.
- Perform maintenance, calibration, and testing of Data collection instruments/equipment.
- Participate in updating and maintaining geodatabase; enter new map data and coordinate information; edit and perform quality control of GIS data layers.
- Perform geographic research; gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data.
- Create, update, and maintain all types of GIS web applications and integrate APIs and webhooks for data sharing and notifications.
- Collect, store, and retrieve legal descriptions, land records, easements, as-built drawings, and associated information.
- Provide GIS technical support to system users; train employees and/or other customers in the use of GIS software, hardware, and peripheral equipment.
- Conduct technical research and provide advice regarding the application of software and data.
- Publish GIS data, maps, analysis, reports, charts, and graphs in the form of static and online content.
- Work closely with GIS user departments to identify, design, execute, and support custom mapping applications and solutions.
