Ramos CS is actively hiring a Civil and Utility Design manager. The successful Civil and Utility Design manager will use computer- aided design (CAD) program to design and draft, scale and fine-tune drawings and maps for construction projects, with a preference for experience with AutoCAD. The Civil and Utility Design manager will lead a team of CAD designers and report directly to Authority. They should have a strong working knowledge of electric utilities, wet utilities, grading, earthwork calculation, hydrology/hydraulic reports, storm drain, street, water and sewer design.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Developing and maintaining a high level team through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and LAWA’s internal stakeholders
- Design and draft both 2D and 3D designs of systems, civil grading, foundations, piping, underground, roadway, and other infrastructure systems
- Support pipeline and utility design, mapping, and database development using AutoCAD. The work includes documenting features such as utilities, incorporating survey and property and right-of-way information, developing exhibits for communication and permitting, and preparing construction drawings
- Interpret land surveys and maps to design grading, structures, and other factors that can affect the placement of the projects
- Ensure the design of third-party modification to their assets complies with the design standards and requirements of the applicable asset owner(s).
- Identify required new utility services and prepare necessary special provisions to implement.
- Interpret civil engineering and building plans to determine where to design systems
- Submit proposed design plans to project engineer for review and approval
- Produce work/plan redline markup and comments
- Interact and work together with other teams to provide integrated services and support
- Understanding of city, county and state laws regarding design and code requirements
- Prepare technical figures and engineering drawings containing plans, profiles, sections, and details
- Take ownership for the quality and accuracy of one’s work
- Participate in project reviews as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or Design
- 5-10 years of civil engineering design experience
- Expertise in using AutoCAD
- Expertise in using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Some travel may be required
