We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated professional to lead our Land Acquisition and Title Management team. This role encompasses overseeing all real estate aspects for ongoing and future projects, including team leadership, strategic planning, and staff training. The successful candidate will manage internal and contracted personnel, oversee department operations, and drive effective land acquisition strategies for utility-scale wind projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead and supervise the Land and Title Department.
- Manage a team of managers and land acquisition professionals across various markets.
- Oversee the performance and development of internal and contracted land and title staff.
- Administer the department budget and establish KPIs to monitor team performance.
- Maintain and utilize land asset management software effectively.
- Stay informed about marketplace dynamics and trends.
Land Acquisition Strategy for Utility-Scale Wind Projects:
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies.
- Formulate and execute land acquisition plans for new project sites.
- Secure site control through negotiations and agreements with property owners, including fee simple land, leases, easements, and right-of-ways.
- Negotiate land purchases and support necessary permit applications at local, county, state, and federal levels.
- Maintain accurate landowner records and manage communications with stakeholders throughout development and preconstruction phases.
- Foster and manage relationships with customers, landowners, officials, and other relevant parties to uphold a positive company reputation.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- BA/BS in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or a related field; Paralegal Degree is an advantage.
- Over 8 years of experience in land acquisition and development for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing land agents and legal teams.
- Proficiency in reviewing, interpreting, and resolving title and vesting issues.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Preferred location in or near Minneapolis, with flexibility to attend in-person meetings as required.
