Summary
The Identity & Access Management (IAM) Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a team of specialists who manage the authorization of access to the firm’s systems, data, and applications. This role and its supporting team are accountable for managing operational requests for user account administration, permissions, and access controls.
This role requires an operationally savvy leader who can effectively prioritize competing demands, demonstrating a sense of urgency on behalf of users while safeguarding the firm’s digital assets.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversees the operational management of identity, access, and authorization requests throughout the employee / user lifecycle from onboard to offboard
• Upholds the cyber security, IT engineering, and compliance controls established by cross-functional leads
• Leads the design, monitoring, and ongoing refinement of service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) with IT Security and IT Service Management leads
• Defines ticket prioritization and escalation criteria to align with broader IT incident management and service request workflows
• Supports IT engineering teams with the monitoring of access logs and recurring cyber security reviews (e.g., system access management, penetration testing)
• Partners with cyber and IT engineering to implement, monitor, and continuously refine user access controls and associated processes
• Proactively identifies and communicates opportunities for automation, operational efficiency, and cyber resiliency
• Informs IAM engineering design efforts to capture ongoing support considerations as part of upfront solution planning
• Recommends policies, standards, procedures, and training programs for lawyers and staff to enhance the security, quality, and overall user experience for identity and access related needs
• Stays abreast of industry trends in the IAM space to identify and recommend process improvements
• Other responsibilities as assigned
Education & Credentials
• College degree is strongly preferred, ideally in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (equivalent and related Military or additional Professional experience is also preferred)
• Appropriate technical certification(s) are preferred
Knowledge & Experience
• 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in a large Law Firm setting, a comparable professional services organization, a legal information services provider, or a similarly regulated industry.
• Demonstrated experience with IAM concepts, principles, and leading industry practices, including but not limited to: user and group provisioning, role-based access control (RBAC), identity lifecycle management, privileged access management (PAM), single sign-on (SSO), and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
• Demonstrated experience in managing the operational support of IAM related needs in a global environment across a variety of platforms, tenants, and environments, including on-premises and cloud-based systems
• Demonstrated experience leading and growing a team of professionals
• Demonstrated experience with global, tiered IT support models
• Demonstrated experience working in a time-sensitive, high-visibility environment
• Demonstrated experience designing and managing to service level agreements and key performance indicators
• Experience with Microsoft AD and Entra ID environments required.

Work Conditions
• Based in Washington, D.C.
• Core hours of 9:00 am – 5:30pm, Monday – Friday; hybrid in-office (3 times per week), which will be a combination of onsite, and remote work with occasional on-call availability.
Salary Range: $98,000 - $138,500 (depends on experience). Position is benefit eligible.
Position requires access to equipment, software, or technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. To be granted access pursuant to US Export Control laws, candidate must be either (a) a United States citizen or national; (b) a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence of the United States (i.e., “Green Card” holder); or (c) an INS-approved refugee or asylum holder who has applied for naturalization within six months of the date the individual first became eligible; and if not yet naturalized, is still actively pursuing naturalization if 2 years have passed since the date of application to be granted access pursuant to US Export Control laws. Candidates will be required to submit appropriate documentation to determine whether access can be granted before proceeding further through the application process.
