PURCHASING AGENT
We have joined forces with a West Coast leader in fiberglass manufacturing to find a new Purchasing Agent. We are looking for an expert negotiator; someone who enjoys getting lower prices constantly and who DRIVES cost improvement daily. In fact, you LIKE that your pay is dependent upon your achieving savings. Continual cost improvement is a challenge, and you’ve proven that you have the creative ability to find cost savings with your suppliers. You have a strong project management skillset and a well-rounded purchasing background that might include plastics, metals, electronics, or similar industrial commodities. You are experienced in identifying savings through engineering improvement, supply chain improvement, competitive quoting, or just hard-nosed negotiation.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- The Purchasing Agent determines Purchasing Strategy for all new products, submits RFQ’s garners samples, and manages supplier interface for established commodities.
- The Purchasing Agent makes strategic sourcing decisions based on Lowest Total Cost of Ownership.
- The Purchasing Agent manages the measurement process relative to suppliers and ensures PPAP’s and capability studies are accurate and meaningful; and when necessary monitors and correct Supplier PPM.
- The Purchasing Agent negotiates material pricing based on cost objectives, market conditions, design and cost models.
- The Purchasing Agent periodically benchmarks commodity data ascertain competitiveness.
- Develop “Should Be” costing models.
Required Skills and Experience:
- The Purchasing Agent will have a four-year degree (concentration in Supply Management, Operations Management, Engineering or Accounting preferred).
- 3 years of technical purchasing experience.
- Data analysis, statistical analysis..
- Very strong project management skills.
- Willing to travel as needed to visit suppliers.
