JOB SUMMARY:
Reports organization's finances to accounting department management and offers suggestions about resource utilization, grant utilization strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. Also functions as a backup to the Assistant Vice President, Accounting/Controller (Controller).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. The ability to adapt to a changing work environment and meet challenges presented throughout the day.
2. Produce and analyze THA Innovative Solutions and Tennessee Center for Health Workforce Development (TCWD) financial statements to be provided to the Controller, Senior Vice President, Accounting/CFO (CFO), President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Board of Directors. This includes making all general ledger entries, month-end closing entries, and balance sheet reconciliations and making adjustments as needed.
3. Produce and analyze financials for Friends of THA and HOSPAC. This includes making all general ledger entries, month-end closing entries, and balance sheet reconciliations and making adjustments as needed.
4. Record all companies' cash flow entries to the general ledger, performing bank statement reconciliations and maintaining an accurate cash balance.
5. Responsible for all accounting of payroll expenses, including maintenance of PTO and Bonus Incentive balance reconciliations, and providing those reconciliations to the auditors at year end.
6. Accounting for prepaid expenditures for all companies and maintaining recurring entry schedules to properly account for those expenses.
7. Maintain corporate fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
8. Maintain and prepare required financial reporting of assigned federal, state, and third-party grant awards in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and specific grant requirements. Responsible for ensuring compliance with funding source and following administrative guidelines. Assist in developing budgets for new grants. In charge of preparing reimbursement requests for federal and state grants, preparation of quarterly and annual correspondence and expenditure reports, and monitoring grant related expenditures and ledgers. Responsible for post award grant accounting, including grant closeout functions required by Grants and Contracts Administration and sponsors, including reconciliations, financial status reports, and final invoices.
9. Serve as liaison to grantors (federal, state, and other) for grant related financial matters.
10. Prepare and submit quarterly grant accounting reports (Policy 007) by grant deadlines.
11. Maintain and execute 401(k) and 457(b) calculations and transfers. Prepares quarterly and annual reconciliation and reporting for 401(k) annual external audit.
12. Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for the THA Unemployment Compensation
Fund. Maintains payroll claims and contribution summaries for each member. Works with THA Controller and THA's Unemployment Cost Control provider in developing contribution rates for more than 30 of its nonprofit members. Distributes rate schedules to members. Acts as a liaison between fund members and the State of Tennessee, Truist Bank, and Thomas and Company.
13. Ensure timely remittance of state and federal tax payments.
14. Assist in preparation of annual Schedule Expenditure of Federal Awards (SEFA) for inclusion in THA Consolidated Audit report.
15. Assist with year-end audit preparation and coordinate grant activities with independent CPA firm for preparation of A-133 audit.
16. Submit TCWD's annual Charitable Solicitation Registration.
17. Backup Controller as needed with accounting functions for THA and the Tennessee Hospital Education & Research Foundation (THERF), including monthly general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
18. Must be available in the office during regular office hours unless a hybrid work environment is in place.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist Controller with monthly closings and account analysis.
2. Assist with preparation of the annual budget.
3. Perform other accounting and financial tasks assigned by CFO and Controller.
DIMENSIONS:
Dollar value: Payroll budget of $7.8 million, THA Innovative Solutions budget of $1.8 million, TCWD budget of $8.6 and Grant budget totaling $12 million

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
2. Requires at least five years of accounting experience.
