The Assistant Superintendents are responsible for assisting in supervising the total construction effort to ensure that a project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and required safety elements. May be required to take full responsibility on a given project upon request.
This is a key role on our project teams, assisting in the planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and supervising multiple activities for the project. The Assistant Superintendent coordinates work with different crafts and sub-contractors, sharing the responsibility for productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project. Maintains awareness of safety rules and procedures, identifies safety hazards and implements corrective actions.
Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or similar major preferred
- Must possess a valid, state-issued driver’s license
- Minimum 6 years of work experience in a commercial construction environment, of which 2 years must be at the Foreman level
- Ability to read, understand, and implement construction documents
- Ability to calculate correct concrete and lumber quantities for projects
- Must have basic competencies in mathematics and be able to perform math operations rapidly and accurately
- Excellent supervisory skills with ability to directly supervise up to 30 employees, as well as sub-contractors
- Good interpersonal skills with customer-service orientation
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications
- Ability to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for project site emergencies
