Organization Overview
Cobb Community Foundation (“CCF” or “Foundation”) is a grant-making public charity that ACTIVATES GOOD. Our mission is to be a catalyst for a thriving community – mobilizing people, ideas and resources to improve quality of life in and around Cobb. We accomplish this mission by creating and implementing collective giving strategies by and for our community, by offering charitable tools for individuals and organizations, by leading local efforts in community problem solving and by supporting local nonprofits and helping them to build their capacity.
On a day-to-day basis, we work closely with individuals and businesses who have established charitable funds, non-profits who are serving our community, and other community stakeholders who, like us, are working to create in Cobb an even higher quality of life.
Position Overview
The Director of Development ("Director") reports to the CEO and is responsible for building, managing, and growing current and prospective individual and corporate donors and personal, corporate and agency fundholders. The Director is responsible for designing and executing strategies to increase the foundation’s impact through donations, fund growth and planned giving.
The ideal candidate is passionate about Cobb County and the surrounding areas; is known, respected and has deep relationships in the community; has a proven track record in fundraising; and is skilled in cultivating relationships to help grow the foundation's assets and donor base. This position requires both strategic thinking and hands-on implementation.
Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
•Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, planned giving, and, when appropriate, foundation grants.
•Set and achieve annual fundraising goals in collaboration with the CEO and the Board of Directors.
•Manage a portfolio of key donors, cultivating relationships and facilitating opportunities for them to engage with the foundation's mission.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
•Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
•Plan and execute donor stewardship activities, including recognition events, personalized thank-you strategies, and impact reporting.
•Maintain and update donor and prospect records in the foundation’s database.
Community Engagement & Outreach
•Represent the Foundation at community events, speaking engagements, and meetings with potential donors and partners, including outside of regular business hours.
•Foster relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders to identify collaborative opportunities and strengthen the foundation’s presence in the community.
Planned Giving Program
•Develop and promote a planned giving program to engage donors in long-term support of the foundation’s mission.
•Educate potential donors and advisors on the benefits of legacy giving and guide them through the process.
Collaboration with the Board & Leadership
•Work closely with the CEO and Board members to develop strategies for donor engagement and fundraising.
•Provide regular reports on fundraising progress to the CEO and the Board.
Marketing & Communications Support
•Collaborate with the Communications Manager to ensure fundraising campaigns align with the foundation’s brand and messaging.
•Help develop collateral materials, such as annual reports, case statements, and donor appeals.
This position description is intended to be general and will evolve over time and is subject to periodic updating. All CCF team members are expected to work together, providing assistance to one another and sharing or temporarily transitioning responsibilities as needed to ensure that community, fundholder, donor, management and board expectations are met or exceeded and that all team members are able to succeed.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
•Experience: 8+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field, preferably with a nonprofit or foundation
•Education: Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or a related field
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
•Bachelor’s Degree
•CFRE, CAP or similar designation
•10 years experience in nonprofit fundraising, private wealth management or related field
•Strong knowledge of planned giving
•Experience with donor management software/systems
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS
•Proven success in securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and planned giving commitments
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create compelling cases for support
•Strong relationship-building skills with a wide range of donors, community leaders, and partners
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•Experience with donor management software and reporting systems
•Organized and detail‐oriented, with the ability to excel in a fast‐paced environment
•Ability to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities and problem‐solve

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Position: Full-time exempt
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Hours:8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Deadlines, initiatives and events periodically require work outside of these hours
