General Summary
Responsible for the day to day assigned procurement of goods and services in order to achieve balanced costs, efficiencies, and service while ensuring overall product quality standards are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
• Reviews the forecast, analyzes MRP/ERP reports, to purchase/allocate items, services and supplies as required to maintain/adhere to the production forecast.
• Communicates continuously with vendors and suppliers executing contracts, reviewing quantities, price, availability, covering possible adjustments, non-conforming materials, delivery methods/problems, and sourcing of new items and/or raw materials.
• Works closely with vendors/suppliers to implement JIT, and VMI programs.
• Prepares purchase orders for goods and services. Communicates with requisitioners when changes or price differences occur.
• Assists with maintaining records for all vendors and assures proper documentation is on file
• Studies inventories recommending remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, or excess stock.
• Back up to other buyers as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or similar field preferred. A.P.I.C.S. certification preferred. Additional coursework or seminars in materials management preferred.
Experience
2 + years of procurement experience utilizing MRP and ERP software systems required.
Skills & Abilities
Should be a self-starter, possessing excellent negotiation and communication skills, and enjoy working with a diverse employee base. Should be highly proficient in the use of MRP and ERP systems as well as MS Office. Previous use of databases a plus. Should be able to compute complex mathematical equations with many variables expressed in percentages, ratios, decimals, and fractions as well as able to follow statistical model as required. Should have the aptitude to analyze production reports, graphs, statistical models, memos etc., to allocate/purchase materials as production demands. Should be able to deal with stressful situations involving problems with multiple variables in a wide range of situations. Should be highly organized, able to carry out multiple functions simultaneously. Knowledge of manufacturing organization structure, policies, and procedures preferred.
