Key Responsibilities:
• Perform basic bio-methods for small laboratory animals, such as handling (i.e. restraint, ear notch, clinical observations, body weights, tail tipping), dosing (i.e. IM, SC, IP), blood collection (i.e., cardiac, RO, tail tip), and basic necropsies.
• Perform animal colony tracking, daily observation, randomizing animals for study, and preparing and maintaining cage cards and procedure records.
• Perform basic wet lab procedures such as tube labeling, basic solution and dosing material prep, and sample processing, storage and tracking.
• Responsible for dilution calculations, extensive mouse and rat handling & manipulations, & dosing procedures.
• Accurate entry of data including lab IT systems and databases. Maintain appropriate documentation as required by protocols and SOP’s.
• Perform general lab sanitation, maintain consumables and reagents, and maintain equipment through calibration, validation and monitoring.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in life science
• Experience with mouse tail vein, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections in mice and rats.
• Animal handling and basic husbandry skills with mice.
• Regular & dependable attendance to maintain workflow and details.
• Demonstrated successful record keeping skills, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats.
• Strong written and oral communication skills sufficient to permit clear and effective exchange of information with people representing a wide diversity of disciplines and levels of sophistication.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work with computer software and databases such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
