General Description
This position is accountable for supporting all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) activities at Marq Brand US located sites. These activities include monitoring EHS plant objectives and targets, internal reporting of EHS department performance, ensuring plant level EHS programs, policies, and procedures are developed, implemented, and sustained to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory and permit requirements. This position is also responsible for supporting a strong EHS culture that engages all employees throughout the organization.
In addition to the health, safety and environmental responsibilities, this role will help position Marq Labs as a trusted and ethical partner for both internal and external customers. In this role, you will help advance the global company sustainability vision, support the execution of our sustainability strategies, manage audits, requests, and reports related to corporate social responsibility (CSR), and support meeting legislative and third-party requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Build the vision of the site’s health, safety & environmental culture and deploy it in the site
- Implement and maintain programs for safety, health, and environmental protection.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Inspection and oversight of best management practices.
- Participate in emergency planning activities.
- Integrate safety, health and environmental programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Evaluate and correct risk factors for safety.
- Assist with hazardous material and waste management, groundwater remediation, air emissions reporting, wastewater reporting, and environmental sustainability.
- Maintain the Safety Program and Manual. Develops, conducts and/or coordinates training of personnel to comply with the requirements of the manual. Ensures employees stay current with required certifications/recertifications such as Forklifts and maintain records.
- Tracks and reports OSHA 300 & 300A logs for all facilities. Investigates incidents and near misses and facilitates corrective actions where needed. Monitors workers comp claims for impact to the EMR rating (Experience Modification Rating) with a goal of less than 1.0. Facilitates the identification of root causes of claims and works with the branches to implement corrective actions.
- Facilitates the development of a Sustainability policy. Identifies and coordinates related projects to support the policy such as energy reduction, recycling, and promotion of sustainable packaging materials to our customers. Prepares reports on the status of the Sustainability initiative.
- Manage Social Audits and customer surveys.
- Represent Stewardship standards in marketing.
- Develop responses to customer sustainability inquiries.
Skills, Knowledge, and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- 3+ years of Safety/Health and/or Environmental Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of or experience working with OSHA and Environmental regulatory requirements
- Understanding of incident and injury prevention programs.
- Ability to influence and drive continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma).
- Facilitate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the attainment of the organization's EHS goals.
- Project Management skills.
- Understanding of and ability to interpret OSHA, EPA, DOT, federal and state regulations.
- Experience performing risk assessments and audits.
- Strong Communication skills with ability to influence at all levels of organization through collaborative approach.
- Understanding of sustainability principles, packaging legislative requirements, and third-party standards.
- OSHA certification preferred.
- Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
