Position Scope and Organizational Impact
The PMO Manager will lead and support a team of IT Project Managers working on multiple concurrent projects. The role is responsible for ensuring successful project execution, mentoring and coaching project managers, and supporting high-priority, mission-critical initiatives within the Solar PMO. This position plays a critical role in driving operational excellence in solar technology projects and aligning project outcomes with organizational strategy.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 5-7 IT Project Managers, providing daily support, guidance, and performance management.
- Mentor and coach project managers to enhance their skills and ensure alignment with PMO best practices and organizational goals.
- Oversee multiple concurrent IT projects, ensuring on-time, on-scope, and on-budget delivery.
- Collaborate with project managers to track progress, mitigate risks, and resolve issues.
- Partner with the Director of the Solar PMO to manage mission-critical solar initiatives vital for business growth.
- Contribute to the development of project management methodologies, templates, and standards within the PMO.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for senior leadership, providing regular updates and status reports.
- Ensure clear communication and alignment between project teams, stakeholders, and executive sponsors.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance project delivery, resource utilization, and team performance.
- Support the development and enforcement of project governance frameworks to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Assist the Director in managing the PMO’s budget and ensure resources align with project and organizational priorities.
- Provide insights and recommendations for optimizing resource allocation and project planning.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- PMP Certification.
- CSM certification preferred.
- CPO certification preferred.
- 10+ years of experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
- 5+ years of experience directly managing project managers or teams.
- Proven track record in mentoring, coaching, and developing project managers.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing complex, large-scale IT projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools like MS Project, Jira.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and resource management.
- Familiarity with Solar or Energy projects is a plus.
