Director of Engineering Location: Oakland, CA (2/3 days a week in office)
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join our dynamic team and drive our mission to lead in the field of renewable energy. As a company, we are committed to developing, financing, engineering, constructing, owning, and operating large-scale photovoltaic and battery energy storage projects. Our ideal candidate will bring a wealth of expertise to help us expand and enhance our engineering capabilities.
Overview
The Director of Engineering will lead our Engineering team, overseeing all projects in the Development and Pre-Construction stages. Reporting to the VP of EPC, you will be based at our Oakland, CA office. Your role will involve utilizing and improving existing processes and tools, as well as creating new ones, to ensure that our team delivers projects on time and with high precision. Additionally, you will provide technical oversight for contract reviews, equipment inspections, and quality assurance during the construction phase, working closely with our Pre-Construction and Construction teams.
Core Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop the Engineering team, fostering professional growth and adopting best practices.
Oversee the team's daily operations, ensuring effective support for both the Development and Construction stages.
Define and manage project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Ensure consistency and quality across all engineering processes, analyses, reports, and designs.
Qualifications and Experience
8+ years of experience in the utility-scale renewable energy sector or a related field. A bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline, or an advanced degree, is a plus. Proven experience managing a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS software.
Knowledge of software tools such as PSSE, ETAP, PV Syst, SAM, LPile, and Flow2D. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks independently, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail, along with excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be adaptable, goal-oriented, and a strong team player with effective problem-solving skills.
Ability to clearly communicate tasks and objectives across departments.
Compensation and Benefits
