Provide daily tactical support for domestic and international, inbound, outbound and transfer transportation. Coordinate tactical work with operating locations and the 3rd Party Transportation Management company. Respond to ad-hoc requests related to transportation from carriers, suppliers, internal customers. Identify, participate, and lead process improvement and cost savings initiatives. Work with 3rd party freight payment company to audit weekly funding requests, clear freight invoice exceptions and work with carriers to resolve invoicing issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Work with Transportation Management 3PL to support inbound and outbound transportation activities at the distribution center, manufacturing facilities and supplier locations
§ Coordinate daily cross-border freight moves between U.S. and Mexico
§ Improve customer service levels by assisting sales, marketing, customer service and other internal entities to ensure customer vendor guidelines are adhered to
§ Interface with customer service, carriers, customers, and suppliers to resolve Over, Short and Damage (OS&D) issues
§ Work with distribution center personnel to resolve transportation issues and recommend improvements to processes
§ Review and help resolve invoicing/payment issues; working with 3rd party freight payment company and escalating as needed
§ Troubleshoot invoice issues through review of rates, service, commodity description, FAK and correct addresses as needed
§ Ensure timely and accurate auditing and reconciling of weekly freight funding request files
§ Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting
§ Backup for transportation personnel for other business units as needed
§ Request quotes and follow approval processes for expedited shipments
§ Will perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
§ Bilingual, English/Spanish
§ Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics/transportation position
§ Basic understanding of shipping requirements for cross-border freight
§ Experience in automotive aftermarket and/or retail preferred
§ Experience with freight payment processes preferred
§ Strong communication skills to convey information at multiple levels of the organization
§ Ability to extract, link, cleanse, manipulate, analyze and draw meaningful business conclusions from large datasets drawn from multiple systems.
§ Proficient in Excel
§ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work priorities, planning and task delegation
§ Strong internal/external customer service skills
§ Use of logic, critical thinking and appropriate methods to solve problems with effective solutions
§ Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgement
