SUMMARY
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for all export and import shipments in terms of license, documentary requirements, letters of credit, packing requirements for air and ocean freight and overseas customs regulations, in a timely manner and in accordance with the customer’s requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepares, manages and processes the necessary documentation and the packing instructions for export as required by the customer order
Uses the personal computer to process invoices and airway bills, track shipments, and notify customers via e-mail.
Provides Canadian Distributors with annual NAFTA certifications, export regulations, international banking requirements and import requirements of the destination country
Provides export instructions, as necessary to all parties, by working closely with the sales manager, engineers and the sales administrator to ensure a safe and timely arrival at the international destination
Prepares the necessary documentation and directs the shipping department on the international shipment of hazardous materials
Keeps updated records of export and import rules and regulations
Independently schedules training to keep up with any changes to export and import rules and regulations
Establishes and maintains an archive file for mandatory record retention of international orders, shipments and transactions
Maintains accounts receivable and payment entries to verify shipping company’s charges
Independently negotiates with shippers to establish the best cargo rates and with insurance carriers/brokers regarding claims
Independently make decisions on best possible shipping process, based on cost and delivery time, to the benefit of De Nora and our customers. This includes, but is not limited to, consolidating shipments, finding alternative carriers and method of shipment (air, boat, truck, rail, etc.)
Submits drawback entries and harbor maintenance summaries
Prepares, manages and processes documentation for customs clearance of imports and authorized equipment returns
Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
Responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements opportunities to help increase the site’s on-time delivery metric and reduce the cycle time for processing shipments
Coordinates with other De Nora sites to identify best practices and reduce rework due to order entry or customer order issues
Act as Logistics back-up for other De Nora sites in the United States
Work directly with custom officials to troubleshoot issues that delay shipments
QUALIFICATIONS
Good organizational and multi-tasking skills
Good computer skills in MRP/ERP, MS Office applications
SAP experience preferred
Must have thorough understanding of all INCO international forms, documents and financial instruments and their proper execution
Basic mathematical computation skills
Self-starter with minimal directions
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school and 3-5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Handling hazardous materials as required by the International Air Transportation Association
