Responsibilities:
· Manage client intake including preparing engagement letters, running conflict checks, collecting documents, setting up internal electronic file folders, etc.
· Manage all facets of bankruptcy cases including interacting with clients, supporting attorneys and communication with court staff.
· Assist with reviewing and drafting of legal documents.
· Perform a full range of paralegal tasks for business bankruptcy cases.
· Maintain, monitor, and calendar deadlines, hearings, and other events.
· Prepare exhibit and hearing binders, both physical and electronic.
· Remain current on restructuring industry news.
· Participate in case strategy meetings and take meeting notes.
· Proactively learn firm technologies and improve firm operations.
· Electronically file documents in federal courts.
· Maintain internal electronic files.
· Keep contemporaneous day notes of billable and non-billable work.
· Work on preparing invoices and fee applications.
Qualifications & Skills:
· 3-5 years of federal litigation or bankruptcy required. Experience with corporate debtor representation preferred.
· Knowledge and experience with complex federal court filings and interaction with court staff.
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, PACER, and Westlaw.
· Working knowledge of time management platforms. Clio experience preferred.
· Working knowledge of document management systems. NetDocs experience preferred.
· Ability to work in a demanding environment.
· Ability to prioritize and multitask.
· Effective communication skills.
· Superb diligence and mindfulness.
· Working knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Evidence, and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
· Proficient in all the core legal support functions.
· Proficient in all aspects of the discovery process, including preparation of deposition notices, requests for production, requests for admissions, interrogatories, preparing deposition exhibit binders, drafting responses and objections to discovery requests, reviewing documents for privilege and other issues.
