Metric is seeking a highly experienced Transmission and Substation Engineering Director to lead an engineering team in Houston, TX. The company is a leading provider of specialized contracting services, focusing primarily on infrastructure solutions for the electric power, oil and gas, telecommunications, and renewable energy sectors. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the engineering design, development, and implementation of transmission and substation projects.
- Manage a team of engineers and technical staff, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and enforce engineering standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure high-quality project outcomes.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met within budget and on schedule.
- Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with transmission and substation projects.
- Manage the development of technical reports, proposals, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- PE Licence (necessary).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in transmission and substation engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical transmission systems, substations, and related equipment.
- Proven experience managing complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with utility companies or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, NEC, NESC, and others.
$180k base - $225k
Travel up to 50% may be required.
