Summary:
A Fortune 500 Company who operates within the chemical manufacturing space is looking for a new Engineering Manager who will focus on capital projects and lead a team of project managers. This is a full time permanent position that will be on site in Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Take an active role in ensuring safety for yourself and others, following all safety protocols and responsibilities.
- Enhance site process safety by implementing effective solutions to prevent safety incidents.
- Adhere to company standards and plant work rules.
- Train, support, and develop your team in areas such as chemical manufacturing standards, technical solutions, process safety, customer service, and quality assurance.
- Contribute to plant strategy as a key team member, leading by example and aligning with plant, division, and company priorities.
- Foster team engagement through exceptional management practices and decision-making.
- Oversee contractor programs, ensuring high-quality contracting services and maintaining effective supplier relationships.
- Independently handle complex technical projects and ensure successful technical execution.
- Continuously reduce process safety incidents year over year.
- Achieve all certification, qualification, and verification milestones for capital project startups.
- Properly forecast capital expenditures and startup costs for projects up to $5 million.
- Identify and address opportunities and threats in the business environment, communicating with leadership and developing appropriate countermeasures.
- Manage all phases of manufacturing engineering projects effectively from planning to execution.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members to enhance their expertise and capabilities.
- Develop impactful, value-added solutions with significant reach and influence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- At least 7 years of relevant engineering experience
- A minimum of 3 years in project, program, or team leadership, specifically with major capital projects totaling $5 million or more
- Previous experience in a leadership role with responsibility for managing people
