The billing supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day functions within the Patient Financial Services Department. These functions include but are not limited to monitoring medical and dental accounts receivables, batch and send electronic claims, and generate patient statements. The supervisor will be the main department contact for support and holds the responsibility for effectively managing the billing team, building, and maintaining relationships across departments.
Responsibilities
- Supervises billing staff functions to ensure high quality work product that is following regulatory agency guidelines.
- Monitors the billing staff, serving as a resource to assist and coach them to perform their work.
- Set monthly deadlines for closing billing system and communicates with all staff.
- Reviews and processes self-pay accounts.
- Accurately performs the charge entry function as required by task assignment.
- Ensure staff are cross trained within the department.
- Partner with Director of Patient Services on any project management assignments needed.
- Monitor patient accounts to collections, ensuring self-pay accounts are forwarded to our collection agencies weekly.
Requirements
- Possesses general work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills, and mathematical knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a "business school (non BA/BS)" or "associates degree" type program.
- Job duties require knowledge and training in the field of medical billing, typically acquired through a formal Associates Degree or trade school program in medical billing.
- Ability to read and speak Spanish and/or Russian preferred but not required.
- Ability to anticipate and re-prioritize work in response to changes in circumstances.
- Ability to use job-related systems software to their full capability and perform complex/advanced functions.
