Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for a Contract-to-Hire Legal Support Manager.
Overview: Our client seeks a skilled Legal Support Manager
Company: Mid-size law firm.
Experience: At least 7 years of experience managing a team of paralegals within a law-firm.
Location: Chicago, IL
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and direct the workload for a team of paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative assistants.
- Act as a liaison to the attorney team to ensure that requests for legal support are fulfilled and executed at the highest level.
- Administratively oversee all phases of litigation, including pleadings, motion practice, discovery, trial, and appellate procedures.
- Implement and manage organizational systems to maintain case calendars, pleadings, correspondence, and related case documents utilizing firm software.
- Provide research and training resources to the legal support team to develop their skills and increase the team’s efficiency.
- Assist in recruiting and retention of top talent for all legal support roles.
- Assess staffing needs regularly by anticipating demands and staying up to date on all active matters.
- Oversee training and onboarding of all legal support staff in partnership with Human Resources.
- Create and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide informal feedback regularly to address any performance concerns or recognize great performance.
- Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews in accordance with firm policies and schedule.
- Maintain technical knowledge and stay up to date with industry trends that may impact the team.
- Coordinate with other areas/departments within the firm to develop efficient procedures to streamline processes.
Qualifications Include:
- At least 7 years of experience managing a group of paralegals, legal assistants and other legal support staff.
- Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal Certificate preferred but not required.
- Experience using the federal courts’ CM/ECF system, PACER, Bluebook, and Westlaw.
