Database Administrator- MSSQL
Under the general supervision of local senior management and the Database Platform Engineering Manager in the Platform Engineering and Operations Team, you will be supporting a combination of project and operational activities in conjunction with our Managed Service Provider for Database operations. A portion of your focus will be on assisting the team in the management of our ServiceNow ticket queue, which is made up primarily of Service Requests. Our goal is to maintain reasonable ticket SLAs while meeting the Team’s project commitments.
Responsibilities
You are good at managing and operating Microsoft SQL Server database instances; optimizing
configuration settings, performing database backups & restores, developing and running optimization tasks, composing automation scripts for repetitive tasks, etc.
You have experience with the most recent releases of SQL Server including the related products of Integration Services, Reporting Services, and Analysis Services. You have excellent communication skills, work well in a team, and are dedicated to providing outstanding customer service.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Individually execute and deliver on day-to-day activities
Perform research of viable technical and/or non-technical solutions
Share knowledge with the Team
Leverage internal networks in role and viewed by stakeholders as skilled specialist.
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
Bachelor's degree in computer or information sciences or similar field preferred
You bring to us experience in managing SQL Server databases, T-SQL programming, knowledge of third
form normalization design principals and indexing best practices. We would welcome experience in
Oracle and/or other DBMSs to help support RtB
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
Solid MS SQL Server DBA experience (SQL 2012-2019
Strong Database Design skills
Expertise in SQL Statement Tuning
Experience with native transactional Data Replication
Experience in configuring Always-On Availability Groups (incl. Windows Clustering)
Experience with deploying and managing Cloud Database Services (AWS/Azure preferred) like AWS DynamoDB, AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB
Experience with Cloud automation deployment (e.g., Terraform for SQL RDS)
Good understanding of networking concepts in cloud (VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups, etc)
Strong T-SQL Programming capabilities
PowerShell and/ or Python scripting capabilities
Familiarity with Oracle Database technology (versions 11g, 12c, 18c, and 19c) a plus
Familiarity with Datadog as a monitoring and analytics tool
Familiarity with MySQL and PostgreSQL a plus
Maintain database security
Maintain Server and DB Auditing
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
