Job Title: Fire & Safety Engineer

Job Purpose:
Provides specialized expertise in fire protection engineering for project evaluation, compliance, and system integration.
Conducts safety reviews, provides engineering support, and ensures compliance with safety standards for HQ projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Follows and applies approved policies, processes, and standard operating procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner and consistent manner.
- Applies the day-to-day operations assigned for the section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures to ensure continuity of the work.
- Develop and design fire protection systems, including sprinklers, alarms, and suppression systems.
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and national fire codes and standards.
- Collaborate with architects and contractors on system integration.
- Evaluate fire risks in facilities and recommend risk mitigation measures.
- Develop fire safety plans and evacuation procedures.
- Provide training on fire safety and emergency response.
- Assist in managing fire-related emergencies.
- Coordinate with fire departments during incidents.
- Conduct post-incident analysis and recommend improvements.
- Evaluate and review projects to ensure compliance with fire fighting and protection standards.
- Provide recommendations and guidance to ensure proper implementation of fire protection measures.
- Review all tenders and contracts related to fire protection, ensuring alignment with standards and requirements.
- Identify any gaps or deficiencies in the proposed fire protection systems and recommend improvements.
- Prepare inspection check sheets for new fire/gas detection and protection systems.
- Ensure comprehensive testing and verification of system components and functionality.
- Conduct testing and commissioning activities for delivered fire detection and protection systems.
- Ensure proper integration and functionality of the systems in accordance with project requirements.
- Participate in safety studies and reviews, such as HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, etc., contributing to the identification of hazards and risk mitigation measures.
- Follow up on the implementation of safety recommendations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide engineering support for the projects, conducting safety reviews and ensuring adherence to safety standards and codes.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety measures and best practices into design and operational plans.
- Coordinate and participate in safety drills, simulations, and awareness sessions to enhance safety preparedness and promote a safety culture.
- Develop and deliver training programs on safety practices, emergency response, and hazard identification.
- Audit safety permits and method statements, ensuring compliance with safety standards and permit-to-work procedures.
- Conduct audits of the permit-to-work system to identify gaps and ensure proper implementation.
- Support the loss prevention department in risk management activities, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Assist in the development and improvement of safety management systems and procedures.
- Participate in project walkthrough inspections and site acceptance tests for capital projects.
- Verify the integration of new projects with existing fire systems and identify any integration issues.
- Prepares reports in timely and accurate manner in order to meet Company and department requirements, policies and standards.
- Complies with all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
- Communicates with Senior Management to updates job status on regular basis. Coordinates with other departments as required on Daily basis.
- Regular coordination with HCIS, Contractors and Service providers as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering, Safety Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in fire protection & safety engineering in the position in oil & gas industry.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures & regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Fluent in speaking and writing English language.
