Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Certifying Scientist
Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist with certification authority to join our laboratory team. The Certifying Scientist will be responsible for the accurate analysis, validation, and certification of clinical laboratory results, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of laboratory practice. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in laboratory methodologies and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on quality control and clinical relevance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the certification process for laboratory test results, applying expert judgment in the evaluation of data integrity and clinical applicability.
- Document and review laboratory results with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established protocols.
- Execute and validate complex diagnostic assays, ensuring precision in result interpretation and certification.
- Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments in alignment with CLIA, CAP, and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation standards.
- Engage in regular internal audits and participate in external inspections to maintain the laboratory’s accreditation status.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by a recognized certifying body (ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent) is mandatory.
- At least 2 years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory, with specific experience in result certification for toxicology testing via LC-MS/MS.
- Proficient in the operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation, including automated analyzers and advanced diagnostic platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory regulations, including CLIA, CAP, FDA, and OSHA standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex data sets and identify critical results.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- High degree of attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all aspects of laboratory work.
Preferred Experience:
- Expertise in toxicology is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in laboratory accreditation processes, including CAP inspections and CLIA certification.
- Advanced certification in a specialized area of forensic toxicology.

Compensation: Hourly wage: $23-29/hr. (Annual $48,000-$60,000) depending on experience and certifications.
