Brunel is looking to hire a Commercial Strategist to work with a major Oil and Gas company in Houston, TX on a long term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the category manager for contracts related to consulting and engineering, office facilities maintenance and construction, and aviation services, primarily supporting domestic onshore and offshore oil and gas assets.
- Manage the full contract life cycle for staffing services, including advising proponents on vendor selection, executing contract documents, and evaluating vendor performance.
- Oversee contract management duties, including executing new contracts, managing term extensions, processing commercial amendments, and conducting Request for Proposals (RFPs) as needed.
- Serve as the central point of contact between business unit proponents, vendors, and other key stakeholders, including Legal and Risk departments.
- Collaborate with business and functional leaders to develop and execute sourcing and value creation strategies.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate contract terms and conditions, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), commercial terms, and purchase orders, with support from the Legal team.
- Ensure supplier compliance with the HES Contractor Safety Program by pre-qualifying new vendors and re-qualifying existing suppliers.
- Maintain open communication with internal stakeholders regarding strategy, policies, and procedures related to the portfolio.
- Regularly communicate with vendors to assess availability, competencies, and cost competitiveness.
- Conduct vendor performance evaluations, including quarterly business reviews and tracking supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Utilize SAP and Ariba ERP systems for purchase requisitions, purchase orders, supplier registration, sourcing strategy, contract development, and supplier performance management.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management.
- 7+ years of experience in category management and strategic sourcing.
- Strong understanding of procure-to-pay processes, contract management best practices, supplier vetting, sourcing strategies, and commercial analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain principles, theories, and processes.
- Familiarity with systems such as SAP, Ariba, Spotfire, and Power BI.
- Exceptional knowledge of CMMS systems (SAP or similar).
- Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) or Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
- Experience developing critical maintenance procedures.
- Working knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Experience developing and reviewing maintenance Opex budgets.
- Frontline leadership experience during turnarounds.
- Extensive mechanical experience in LNG, including turbo machinery, compressors, pumps, motors, and other related equipment.
- Adaptability to manage changes in the work environment, including adjusting to deadlines and delays.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant computer applications.
