ALTA IT Services has a direct hire opening for a highly experienced and versatile Senior IT Solution Architect with more than 10 years of experience to lead the design and implementation of complex, high-impact IT solutions. The role will support a leading healthcare IT company based in Columbia, MD
Experience with federal healthcare plans and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning (AL ML) is very strongly preferred.
This is a remote position with infrequent office and/or customer visits.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in full-stack development, cloud architecture, AI, and a deep understanding of modern security practices including DevSecOps, compliance frameworks, and secure software delivery.
The solution architect will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development teams, QA teams, and security specialists, to create scalable, secure, and innovative solutions. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of delivering technical designs while guiding the implementation from an architectural and operational perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Design & Architecture:
- Develop comprehensive technical architectures, including front-end, back-end, and cloud services, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Lead architectural discussions and decision-making processes across multiple teams.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs for new solutions.
- Assess existing solutions' architecture and identify changes to address concerns with stability, performance, scalability, and security.
- Full-Stack Development Expertise:
- Leverage in-depth knowledge of front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and back-end frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, .NET) to drive end-to-end solutions.
- Ensure best practices are followed in software development, including design patterns, code reviews, and automation testing.
- Cloud Architecture & DevSecOps:
- Architect solutions that leverage cloud platforms (mainly AWS)
- Implement DevSecOps pipelines and best practices to streamline deployment, integrate security in the CI/CD pipeline, and automate security testing.
- Ensure that cloud infrastructures are resilient, scalable, and optimized for performance.
- Security & Compliance:
- Drive the implementation of security best practices, including encryption, identity management, threat detection, and incident response.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure that solutions meet compliance standards
- Proactively address vulnerabilities and maintain security in architecture designs.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership:
- Mentor junior architects and developers, providing technical guidance and helping them grow in their roles.
- Prepare and present architectural solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest technology trends, tools, and frameworks in the areas of full-stack development, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
- Implement processes to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in IT solution architecture, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex systems.
- Extensive experience with full-stack development, including both front-end (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, frameworks like React/Angular) and back-end (Node.js, Python, Java, etc.) technologies.
- Strong expertise in cloud architecture and AWS services.
- Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and automated testing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with an analytical mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate across diverse teams.
