Description
The Regional Manager, Facilities is responsible for maintenance of the company’s Texas-based facilities, including the company lab and headquarters facility in Austin, TX and depot facilities in other Texas cities. These facilities include office space, a clinical laboratory, and warehouses. This position requires a strong focus on customer service and the ability to develop & maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agencies, vendors, contractors and employees to ensure fast, quality completion of a wide range of projects.
Qualifications
- BA/BA in Engineering, Facilities management or related field required.
- Certification in facilities management is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive facilities management - preferably in Life Science and/or Laboratory Facilities properties including validation and maintenance of biomedical equipment.
- Proven experience with sustainability & energy conservation programs in commercial or institution buildings required - with LEED accreditation is desired.
- Experience through technical education and hands-on-experience in the following disciplines:
- HVAC design and engineering
- Electrical design and engineering
- Plumbing design and engineering
- Refrigeration equipment
- Experience with other building support systems (i.e., fire/safety systems and security).
- Experience managing 24/7 operations with engineering and maintenance staff is a plus.
- Very good leadership & managerial skills with a desire to train and supervise.
- Computer literate including proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCad and maintenance management systems.
- Ability to read and understand building plans and specifications.
- Ability to read and understand lease and contractor agreements.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial terms and principles relating to facilities management and real estate.
- Experience forecasting and preparing budgets and reports summarizing financial, operating & capital performance data.
- Strong organizational skills and detailed orientation.
Responsibilities
- Lead role in managing the company’s existing Lab and future Texas-based depot facilities. Includes maintaining the performance and maintenance of all facilities and support equipment, including but not limited to HVAC, refrigerators, freezers, water systems, security, and material handling equipment.
- Provide a very high level of troubleshooting, diagnoses and repair which includes, but not limited to, temperature charts, solution piping, mixers, water system etc.
- Provide service on an emergency basis, weekends, facilities shutdowns, and after hours is required to provide system and equipment up time.
- Supervise Facilities Technicians.
- Lead role for company safety program.
- Support role for acquisition of the company’s future Texas-based depot facilities.
- Managing third-party vendors and contractors on numerous facilities projects.
- Ensuring the completion of all maintenance work in accordance with established standards and Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.
- Managing, operating, and reporting the financial status and capital expenditure activity of each facility and all projects.
- Reviewing and approving maintenance, engineering and utility invoices for cost, allocation, account coding, amount & completion, and construction work.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Physically, the day-to-day functions of the role require:
- Standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- A normal range of vision and hearing (inclusive of candidates using corrective measures such as glasses or hearing aids).
- Occasional repetitive motions.
- Collection of blood samples.
