Position Summary/Objective:
The Contracts Manager position plays a key role in Bigge’s Contracts/Legal team and support the contracting effort within the Contracts and Sales Departments. The position can be in either Bigge’s Houston, Texas or its San Leandro, California offices. It currently is a hybrid position, i.e., three days in the office and this may be open to future change. Out of area/state candidates will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a critical component to a dynamic Contracts Team and its day-to-day contract management activities, including oversight of staff and contract administration process.
- Interface with internal and external customers regarding technical construction contract issues, including contractual risk allocation issues.
- Review, red-line, and negotiate terms within established guidelines to mitigate contractual risk in customer construction contracts and equipment rental agreements.
- Assisting in the resolution of any contract-related disputes or issues that arise.
- Ownership of the contracting process from initial fact-checking (confirmation of scope, schedule, and price with sales and payment status with accounting) to final document completion. roll reporting, local hiring, and controlled insurance programs.
- Regularly communicating with stakeholders to update them on contract status and addressing any concerns.
- Initially, this position will primarily support the mobile crane business. Opportunities may arise to assist the tower crane and hoist business, as well as trucking operations and procurement.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Continually demonstrate problem-solving skills, poise, and diplomacy.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal/external customers and other stakeholders by email, telephone, and contract draftsmanship. Exhibit ability to utilize persuasion and detail in negotiating contract terms.
- Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is expected. Experience with Adobe, DocuSign, and Salesforce a plus.
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently after initial training.
- 1-2 years of experience in contracts management is highly preferred, particularly within the construction industry. A basic understanding of contracts concepts is mandatory, while a basic understanding of insurance concepts is preferred.
