LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Oncology Intake & Referral Specialist to join our team in an outpatient setting. This role is pivotal in supporting oncology patients and ensuring a seamless experience through every step of their care journey.
About the Role:
Location: Onsite in Seattle, WA
Key Requirements:
- Oncology experience - MUST: Candidates must have a solid background in oncology to provide the necessary support and guidance to patients.
- EPIC experience - MUST: Proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic medical records (EMR) systems is essential.
- Outpatient/Ambulatory experience: Experience in an outpatient setting with a strong understanding of chart/medical record reviews and critical thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Appointment Coordination: Schedule and adjust patient appointments based on availability and the patient's condition. Coordinate with departments for patient needs like transportation or interpreter services.
- Patient Intake & Records Management: Complete initial patient intakes, obtain and review medical records, and ensure that all relevant information is accurately entered into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Insurance Verification & Billing: Verify insurance coverage, obtain necessary referrals/authorizations, assist in resolving billing issues, and reconcile charges against the current schedule.
- Communication & Support: Act as a patient advocate, providing compassionate support to patients and families. Handle patient inquiries, triage phone calls, and maintain a helpful demeanor while managing multiple tasks.
- Team Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with the oncology team to identify and address patient needs, optimize clinic flow, and support Cancer Institute goals. Participate in other duties as requested by supervisors.
