Korn Ferry has recently partnered with a growing specialty chemical manufacturer in the Southeast seeking an Assistant Vice President of Operations to join their south Florida operations. In this key role, you will oversee and manage all aspects of operations across the organization including but not limited to Plant Operations, Engineering, Safety, Environmental & Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, and Transportation. This role offers unique succession planning opportunity to Vice President of Operations in near future and will interact closely with executive leadership located in South Florida headquarters. Anticipate high travel, up to 75%, within domestic southeast markets during first 1-2 years of employment.
Role Highlights:
- Plan future operations, including new processes and expansion project within Southeast region
- Oversee operating and capital budgets to include reviewing budgets, expenses, production quotas, and permits.
- Conduct personnel interviews, hiring, and reviews to include proper and updated job descriptions, pay scales, and personnel requirements.
- Manage facility development, construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure inventory control and scheduling of product. Assist in overseeing corporate projects and/or administrative support.
- Lead environmental accident responses and regulatory interactions to include conducting facility inspections for compliance and safety.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks to ensure emergency response readiness. Ensure incident tracking and corrective actions.
- Develop and implement environmental projects and programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations to include OSHA, GMP, SPC etc.
- Oversee company transportation and fleet maintenance programs.
- Assist and handle contract negotiations and litigation preparations.
Background/Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred. MBA preferred, or equivalent technical knowledge with ~10 years’ experience in manufacturing environment, chemical based manufacturing facility preferred.
- Experience in working for 24/7 plant operations critical as this role will be very hands on and involved with professional and hourly employees.
- Excellent PC skills including MS Office Word, Excel
- Strong problem-solving, customer service, and people management skills.
- Professionalism and ability to work under pressure to include business acuman and financial budgeting and planning.
- Extensive travel, up to 75%, within southeast in first 24 months of employment. Company offers mileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicle.
- Training Requirements for incumbent hired to include: Hazardous Materials & Communication, Personal Protective Equipment Requirements, Fire Safety, Emergency Response Evacuation, Escape Respiratory and Voluntary Respirators amongst others.
