General Function:
The Information Assurance Analyst supports cybersecurity efforts, including incident response, system monitoring, and security audits. The role includes working on access control management and collaborating with IT teams on various cybersecurity projects.
Typical Duties:
- Monitor and Protect Systems: Assist in monitoring security systems to detect and respond to vulnerabilities.
- Support Security Audits: Help conduct audits to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations (e.g., NIST, RMF, FISMA).
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain security documentation, draft incident reports, and track remediation efforts.
- Access Control Management: Ensure proper access controls to safeguard sensitive data.
- Risk Management Assistance: Help assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate on Security Initiatives: Work with senior analysts and IT teams to enhance security protocols.
- Assist in Incident Response: Participate in investigations and incident response under senior team guidance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with U.S. government anti-tamper requirements (preferred).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts (firewalls, encryption, identity and access management, threat detection tools).
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, RMF, ISO 27001).
- Strong analytical skills to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Ability to follow processes and accurately document work.
- Eagerness to learn and collaborate with senior team members.
- Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar.
- Hands-on experience in cybersecurity or IT-related roles is preferred.
