SQL Database Administrator
Location: Hybrid in Lansing, MI (2 days a week onsite)
Contract: 12 month contract, possibility of conversion to a FTE
Pay Rate: $51-$61 /hr. on W2 with benefits
Summary
We are seeking a mid to senior-level SQL Database Administrator to support and maintain database systems, with a focus on high availability, disaster recovery, and data security. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing SQL Server environments (version 14 and above), with an emphasis on Availability Groups and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in support for SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery in line with industry standards.
- Plan, implement, and maintain SQL Server databases, including installation, patching, and upgrading.
- Work with internal teams to evaluate and implement database standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor database space and performance, adjusting as necessary based on growth and capacity requirements.
- Administer SQL Server Availability Groups to ensure high availability and failover capabilities.
- Implement and manage Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for secure data transfers.
- Troubleshoot backup errors and manage database replication and backup strategies.
- Support database environments in both development and production, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Collaborate with other technical teams to develop and maintain robust data architectures and storage strategies.
- Use monitoring tools to identify and address any performance issues, ensuring databases are running optimally.
Requirements
- Experience with SQL Server version 14 and newer.
- Solid background in SQL Server administration, including backups, performance tuning, and security.
- Familiarity with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
- Knowledge of SQL Server Availability Groups, Always On, or high availability strategies.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure or AWS (though heavy cloud experience is not required).
- Windows networking experience is beneficial.
