Basic Function
The Revenue Staff Accountant is responsible for revenue accounting which includes processing billing, cash receipts and accounts receivable transactions; show/event accounting; sales tax compliance; maintenance and custody of accounting records and the performance other general accounting duties. The ideal individual prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality; identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; responds promptly to requests for service and assistance and meets commitments.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to items on this list.
- Create new account numbers in the financial system as needed.
- Enter cash receipts activity.
- Back-up for staff accountant.
- Maintain accounts receivable system records.
- Monitor and maintain show revenue and expense information.
- Work closely with other departments assisting them with reports and other requests.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax rules and regulations.
- Assist senior Finance staff in all budget preparation, input and balancing.
- Coordinate and prepare pertinent information for external auditors.
- Apply customer payments; research and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Perform monthly reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and enter various journal entries.
- Prepare reports, write business correspondence and assist in the development and update of procedural manuals.
- Recommend resolution for discrepancies and problems.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Experience
- Four-year Accounting degree
- Minimum three years of related accounting experience using an automated system, preferably Microsoft Great Plains.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience in not-for-profit entities.
- Multi-lingual preferred
- Preference for a multi-ethnic and multi-lifestyle workplace

Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, communicate, and use repetitive motions.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may frequently lift and or move 20 pounds of materials.
- The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from multiple people and interact with the public and other staff.
