Position Overview
The Quality Management System Supervisor at Stella-Jones is responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements by overseeing the corporate QMS system, providing training to personnel, and conducting internal auditing of several Utility Pole manufacturing plants in the western United States. The position shall ensure program documents and records are up to date, conduct corrective actions and manage non-conformances for all departments with QMS requirements.
This is a newly created, individual contributor role being added due to company growth and will be hybrid (in-office with some remote work) based at our Tacoma, Washington office. The position will also involve travel (expected to be 25%) primarily focused in the Western U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
ISO 9001 Compliance & Auditing:
- Understand ISO 9001 International Standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Ensure adherence to corporate QMS policies
- Perform internal audits for ISO conformance
- Complete audit reports and manage corrective and preventative actions
- Conduct supplier selection & qualification performance reporting
- Work with third-party audit agencies and corporate management
Document & Record Management:
- Complete technical writing and manage living program documents
- Oversee the maintenance of ISO documents and records on SharePoint document control system
Training & Personnel Qualification:
- Provide training related to QMS procedures
- Manage online training databases
- Complete necessary reporting to leadership regarding training and compliance results
Quality Control & Interaction:
- Manage and monitor customer complaints, ensuring closure and CAPA actions are performed
- Compile and analyze metrics for KPIs identified within the QMS
- Conduct annual management review meetings to address progress and conformance
- Collaborate closely with plant managers and other personnel to optimize QMS objectives
Travel & Onsite Support:
- Travel to provide onsite support for corporate functions and manufacturing plants (Tacoma, WA; Eugene, OR; Silver Springs, NV) – approximately 25% travel per month
- Work closely with corporate leadership and manufacturing plant managers to support QMS implementation and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications:
- Three or more years of Quality experience in a manufacturing-related environment with Bachelor’s degree –or– Five or more years of Quality experience with Associate’s degree/HS diploma
- Significant work experience in ISO 9001
- Extensive technical writing experience
- Microsoft Office experience (including excellent Excel skills)

- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet database, word processing and presentation software.
