POSITION: Civil Engineer
STATUS: Full Time
STARTING PAY: Based on experience
HOURS: Monday thru Thursday 7:30am to 5:00pm and Friday 7:30am to 11:30am; Additional hours may be required based on project needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
Professional Engineer license.
5 to 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design.
Proficient with civil engineering principles, design, practices, process, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Experience in infrastructure design.
Highly proficient in technical writing, office automation, MS Office, discipline specific design software (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCad, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM). Experience with hydraulic 3D modeling and flood risk assessment is a plus.
Experience with infrastructure planning, design, specifications, bid phase, construction administration and project management.
Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving application of engineering principles.
Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on various aspects of the engineering design.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to and engineering and non-engineering audience.
Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to focus under pressure and meet deadlines.
Well developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by GEC’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conductive to project specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project specific requirements.
A valid driver’s license.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Develop construction plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates; preparing phasing plans and updating infrastructure master plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, subconsultants, and clients in accordance with required level of effort and detail at deliverable milestones.
Collect, compile, and analyze data from as built information, physical work site, surveys, GIS data, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
Apply civil engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases involving more complex infrastructure and transportation engineering work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, bidding phase, construction administration, resident inspection and closeout phase.
Involvement from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction administration of infrastructure projects including roadway design, drainage, sewer and water systems, and specifications.
Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, or address engineering, design, and/or construction issues or opportunities.
Observing existing processes, analyzing staff performance, and addressing deficiencies accordingly.
Monitoring and tracking project progress, and writing up reports.
Attending and scheduling meetings as required.
Delegating tasks as necessary and ensuring workers receive feedback.
Understanding and meeting all contract requirements.
Communicating with managers, supervisors, and the rest of the team.
Analyzing technical drawings and providing material and cost estimates.
