About the Role - The School Social Worker plays a critical role in addressing various issues faced by students, families, and teachers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of student functioning, developmental history, family and community structure, interpersonal relationships, adaptive behavior, and cultural factors.
- Develop appropriate interventions based on assessments to improve student learning.
- Assist in planning therapeutic, remedial, and behavioral modification activities.
- Provide direct interventions to students, including individual and group therapy, counseling, and educational programs.
- Offer supportive case work to children and families, including parent education and self-advocacy.
- Provide parent counseling and training to support the implementation of a child's specialized educational program.
- Assist students and families in accessing community resources.
- Consult with stakeholders to understand factors affecting a student's educational experience.
- Collaborate with educational agency personnel, parents, and community resources on areas impacting student learning.
- Work with community agencies and organizations to promote student welfare and achievement.
- Participate in interagency panels to integrate services effectively for students.
- Coordinate and implement bullying prevention efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications - A School Social Worker must have an MSW. LSW and LCSW are preferred.
Required Skills - Strong interpersonal skills, assessment abilities, counseling expertise, and knowledge of community resources.
Preferred Skills - Experience in collaborating with community health, mental health, and welfare service providers.
