We are currently looking for a Director, Planning & Logistics to join our team based out of our Birmingham location.
Position Summary:
The Director Planning & Logistics is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted supply of all products. You will be responsible not only for building the corporate planning functions, but also to develop processes and procedures for manufacturing site planning and scheduling. This role will need to help establish a sales & operations planning cycle that supports not only production planning, but business planning as well. Additionally, they will need to develop strategic capabilities in Supply Chain Logistics, 3PL Management, Carrier Management, and Product Distribution.
Essential Functions
- Manages and develops supply chain planning, inventory management, logistics, and product life cycle management teams whether directly or through a matrixed organization.
- Ensures an uninterrupted product supply.
- Develops and implement product Planning processes to balance demand and supply, assure appropriate customer service levels, maintain adequate inventory, and optimize product cost.
- Expands the new Sales & Operations Planning process leveraging the Streamline forecasting system.
- Establishes a proactive inventory management program in all sales channels including nutraceuticals, pellets, and trocars, both internal sites and through clinical network.
- Coordinates with various functional groups, including Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Marketing, Finance and others.
- Interfaces with all levels of organization, including senior management.
- Implements and execute Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process to ensure 1) alignment of current product demand and internal and external manufacturing capacity and 2) alignment of future commercial demand and future manufacturing capacities.
- Continually defines and reviews planning and inventory strategy to support the sites.
- Creates a Supply Chain planning strategy for Biote’s future commercial needs.
- Proactively identifies and mitigate any potential supply interruptions.
- Develops and implement standardized site planning and scheduling processes and procedures to support all manufacturing sites.
- Oversees supply chain supplier relationship management process in all sales channels including monthly and quarterly business review meetings and site visits as required.
- Serves as the business process lead for implementation of ERP system to manage manufacturing and supply chain transactions.
- Accountable for establishing programs/partnerships and sourcing programs with global 3PLs that can be used by the business to deliver outsourced services for warehousing and transport logistics.
- Establishes and oversees the logistics strategy and best practices for global logistics processes that enables the physical distribution of products as well as the administrative control and information flow.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Operations/Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering or similar.
- Master’s degree or MBA a plus.
- APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) a plus.
- 10+ years of experience within production planning, inventory management, scheduling and logistic operations (internal & 3PL) within GMP healthcare industries.
- Operational experience working within GMP manufacturing healthcare products.
- Experience building organizations from scratch, including development of organizational design, development of job descriptions, and hiring of personnel.
- Experience designing and Hands-on information gathering, analysis and management reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Implementing business processes to meet departmental and corporate needs.
- Strong background in more than one of the following: Operations, GMP processes, Supply Chain Planning, Demand Management, Logistics, and Product Life Cycle Management.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate across different stakeholders (Finance, Manufacturing, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, Commercial, Marketing, etc.).
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills.
- Ability to objectively evaluate options/trade-offs and develop executive management-level recommendations.
- Excellent knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain, with a clarity for understanding the importance and interdependencies associated with each stage of the process — Plan, Source, Make, Deliver.
- Customer-centricity — Considers the impacts of all logistics decisions on the customer, ensuring that any changes will improve and not impede customer service.
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation and influence with all levels of staff, including executives.
- ERP systems experience (Sage Intacct ERP, ProcureDesk P2P system a plus).
