Job Title: Civil Estimator
Project Types: paving, grading, site work, and heavy civil construction projects
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Development: Create detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects focusing on paving, grading, site development, and utility work.
- Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to assess scope, schedule, and materials required for successful project execution.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive bids for new projects, ensuring alignment with client and company objectives.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and cost overruns in project plans and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Vendor Relations: Work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to gather pricing information and maintain accurate cost estimates.
- Cost Control: Monitor and adjust project estimates to ensure financial alignment throughout project life cycles.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project transitions from estimation to execution.
- Market Research: Stay current with industry trends, labor rates, and material costs to provide up-to-date and competitive estimates.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of all estimates, assumptions, and supporting documents for future reference.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating for heavy civil construction projects, with a focus on paving, grading, site work, and utilities.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate, or similar) Bluebeam and MS Office Suite.
- Skills:
- Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
