POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all production operations and material production to achieve department goals and objectives. Collaborates with supporting functions such as maintenance, quality, shipping and receiving, technical, and procurement to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The Production Manager must have a strong commitment to EHS principles and programs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinates plant production activities for all shifts based on production schedule utilizing shift supervisors.
• Work to minimize and/or eliminate product variation thus improving quality and reducing scrap/rework.
• Responsible for assuring that all plant production personnel are properly trained on all new and existing equipment.
• Coach productional personnel on best practices to provide a safe and efficient work environment and resolve escalated issues and problems.
• Be a strong leader in EHS programs, standards, and behaviors including risk assessments.
• Work with production personnel to refine and improve existing processes and procedures.
• Participate in writing procedures and/or operating instructions for new equipment and processes.
• Promote/support the Quality Management System including ISO standards.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to perform equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and installations.
• Periodically review production procedures and make sure they are accurate and followed.
• Review and analyze production data and provide reports on progress and issues to management at all levels.
• Lead cross-functional root cause analysis teams for problem-solving.
• Hands-on work with plant equipment, chemicals, and machinery.
• Communicate ideas and findings to the Director of Manufacturing and team members. Work together to implement process modifications and new approaches.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to develop professional relationships with all departments involved in manufacturing.
• Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 5 years chemical manufacturing supervisory or management experience; batch chemistry experience strongly preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
• BS in Chemical Engineering.

• Must be collaborative a team player, but also be able to lead as necessary to drive and implement change.
• Conflict resolution skills a must.
• Strong verbal and written skills at all levels in the organization.
• Strong analytical, technical and strategic thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and develop sustainable corrective actions.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• SAP experience a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended, length of time.
• Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
