Our Client is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer for a W2-only, 2-year Contract position in Fremont, CA. This is an onsite position. This position pays $60-100/hr. W2.
Summary:
Develop computer vision, robotic path planning and human machine interface solutions. Work in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design, test and troubleshoot special application end effectors on a 6-axis robot. The ideal candidate has a high bandwidth and is organized and thorough. The existing team is working like a start-up division and engineers work on a variety of aspects of the project in a dynamic working environment. Critical analytical skills and hands on development and prototyping is critical for success in this role. Will own technical development and professional support to projects emphasizing new and unreleased products.
Responsibilities:
- Robotic path programming and computer vision.
- Work collaboratively with a team to design, build, test and troubleshoot robotic systems.
- Design and code user interfaces for robotic systems.
- Help create infrastructure to manage and analyze the data generated by a growing number of robots and vision systems.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, assuring proper release / hand-off of solutions.
- Acquire and apply basic engineering theories, methods and research techniques in the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical problems such as 8D.
- Design and conduct experiments and tests pertaining to the resolution to complex technical problems.
- Generate clear and concise reports to justify your technical recommendations.
- Act as liaison for cross functional projects across organizations.
- Implement industry standard process control techniques such as six sigma/lean manufacturing and value stream mapping to manage and develop production efficiencies.
- Train other engineers.
Required Skills:
- 3 -10 years of relevant work experience.
- Background in robotics and computer vision.
- Experience collaborating on software projects using version control, preferably Git.
- Creative thinking, strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to complete projects and learn the required skills with minimal guidance.
- Solid understanding of statistical process control and basic statistical analysis used in production setting.
- Previous experience in individual project management.
- Machine/deep learning background.
- Knowledge of the following languages and frameworks: Python, SQL, OpenCV, ML Platform such as Tensorflow or PyTorch, JS + React for user interface.
- Experience developing web API’s or SDK’s.
- Creative thinking and strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities, including experience in the areas of mechanical engineering.
- BS/MS/PhD in robotics or similar.
- Willing to travel up to several times per year.
