Overview
The Job Site Superintendent is responsible for safely implementing the project work plan in the field, on time, in scope and within budget. In collaboration with the Project Manager (PM), the Superintendent will ensure that company policies and Standard Operating Procedures are understood and followed by company employees and sub-contractors. As the most senior Company job site representative, the Superintendent must fully understand the company’s Guiding Principles and lead others accordingly. Effective Communications and project planning are key performance indicators of success in this position with the ability to develop daily, weekly, and monthly action plans as expected. Superintendent is required to have a clear understanding of the company’s guiding principles and execute his/her duties accordingly.
Responsibilities
-Ensure all work is completed in a safe and legal manner, without risk to the well being of the work force, members of the public and environment.
-Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company’s Safety Program. Take immediate action when necessary.
-Maintain an organized job site office with orderly files to ensure all Construction Documents (Plans, Specifications, ASI’s, RFI’s, SK’s, Shop Drawings, Submittals, etc.) are readily accessible for reference during construction.
-Hold Weekly Safety Toolbox Talks with subcontractors. Document and maintain a logbook.
-Preserve and coordinate with pertinent subcontractors, lay-out controls established by professional land surveyors (PLS).
-Coordinate activities of subcontractors, material suppliers, third-party inspectors, government inspectors, Architects and Engineers to ensure the project stays on schedule. Report concerns and scheduling issues to the Project Manager in a timely manner; participate in seeking immediate resolutions.
-Coordinate requisite inspections with local jurisdictions. Secure final sign-offs and Certificate of Occupancy.
-Maintain accurate log of all permits, licenses and inspection reports associated with the work.
-Ensure subcontractors are fully complying with their subcontracted scope of work.
-Ensure environmental controls are performing as designed. Take immediate appropriate action if such is not the case.
-Proactively identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate such to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
-Maintain a detailed daily log of activities on the job site using PROCORE.
-Create and maintain an up-to-date record of as-built information.
-Participate in meetings as required with Owner’s Representatives, Architects/Engineers, and authorities with jurisdiction over the project.
-Conduct weekly meetings with on-site sub-contractors to address issues pertaining to schedule, scope, quality, staffing, 5-day work-plan, 3-week look-ahead and daily site cleanup,
-Clearly understand and constantly review project plans, specifications, and relevant contractual obligations.
-Inspect, analyze, and approve all deliveries, subcontractor slips and potential back charge exposure.
-Maintain trade punch lists and drive their completion.
-Open Job Site, on-time, at the beginning of each day; and secure it upon completion of the workday.
-Maintain an accurate HOT WORK Log and receiving the proper paperwork and permitting from the sub(s) performing any HOT WORK
-Obtain Operator/Hoisting Licenses from individuals performing such work
-Ensure Pick Plans are in place and Operator License is in hand prior to performing any work requiring a crane
-Review and address project safety reports issued by CRM
-Review and keep track of NFPA 241 requirements per project
-Assist with Project Schedule development, and meet with PM weekly to review current status
-Maintain site conditions for safety (temp railings, fencing, elevator enclosures, confined spaces, holes, fall hazards, extension cords, panel labeling, Fire Extinguishers, First Aid Kits, Eye Wash Stations, excavations, etc)
-Walk entire job-site hourly to review scope, progress, PPE compliance, and safety
-Be available 24/7 for any emergency arising from your project site
Skills
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and guidelines
-MA Construction Supervisor License required
-OSHA 30
