Job Summary: Alsym Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated EH&S Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety at Alsym. The EH&S Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, occupational, and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
About Alsym Energy: Alsym Energy has developed an innovative non-flammable, high-performance rechargeable battery chemistry that’s free of lithium and cobalt and targeted for applications in grid storage. Investors include General Catalyst, Thrive Capital, Tata Ltd. and others.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in an EH&S or similar role in a materials research or battery storage development setting.
- Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations. Experience with hazard analysis and risk assessment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively deliver training, prepare reports, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement EH&S policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations; maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and legislation.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards, and implement preventive measures.
- Develop and conduct training programs, including new hire orientation and ongoing safety education.
- Lead investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses; analyze root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Manage environmental programs such as hazardous waste and water discharges.
- Maintain records, including regulatory submissions, incident logs, and safety audits.
- Lead initiatives to improve EH&S processes, reduce risks, and enhance workplace safety culture.
